Overnight interest rates shoot higher

30-year fixed up at 5.92%; 10-year Treasury up at 4.6%

Long-term mortgage interest rates continued to rise Thursday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield moved up to 4.6 percent. The 30-year fixed-rate average climbed to 5.92 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate jumped to 5.25 percent. The 1-year adjustable was unchanged at 3.26 percent. The 30-year Treasury bond yield increased to 5.37 percent. Rates are current as of 7:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 69.69 points, or 0.68 percent, finishing at 10,241.26. The Nasdaq was down 19.52 points, or 1 percent, closing at 1,937.74.
