Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates Inc. today announced that Daniel Gale Real Estate, a real estate firm with 15 offices serving communities on Long Island, N.Y., will now do business as Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty and market its property listings under this new name.

The firm previously marketed only designated property listings under the Sotheby’s International Realty name.

“Daniel Gale has always been recognized as a high-end market leader on the North Shore of Long Island and within our worldwide affiliate network,” Michael R. Good, president and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates Inc., said in a statement. “Starting in 1976, Daniel Gale was one of the first independent real estate brokerage companies to use the Sotheby’s International Realty name to market luxury properties worldwide.”

Patricia Petersen, president and CEO of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, stated in the announcement, “We are so pleased to be able to reaffirm our membership in the Sotheby’s International Realty network, while remaining a privately owned and locally operated company.”

In February 2004, Cendant Corp., the world’s leading real estate brokerage franchisor, entered into an agreement with Sotheby’s Holdings Inc. that provided for the licensing of the Sotheby’s International Realty name and the development of a Sotheby’s franchise network by Cendant. The agreement also included the acquisition of the company-owned Sotheby’s real estate brokerage offices by NRT Inc., a Cendant subsidiary that owns and operates those offices today as Sotheby’s International Realty Inc.

Affiliations in the system are granted only to brokerages meeting eligibility requirements. Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates Inc. supports its affiliates with operational, marketing, recruiting, educational and business development resources.

Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty is headquartered in Huntington, N.Y., and serves the North Shore of Long Island. The firm’s offices are in both Nassau and Suffolk counties, and its more than 500 associates represent homes and properties in areas including Cold Spring Harbor, East Norwich, Glen Cove, Glen Head, Locust Valley, Manhasset, Northport, Old Westbury, Port Washington, Roslyn, Sea Cliff, Stony Brook and Syosset.
