20 top real estate agents, teams in closed sales and dollar volume

In a report that ranks hundreds of top real estate agents and sales teams, 37 agents and 89 teams ranked highly in both closed transaction sides and total dollar volume in sales.

"The Thousand" report, based on 2010 data and prepared by real estate consulting and communications company Real Trends Inc. in collaboration with The Wall Street Journal, is composed of four separate lists of 250: sales professionals by transactions
sides; sales professionals by sales volume; real estate teams by transaction sides; and real estate teams by sales volume.

Inman News has narrowed the list down to the 20 most prolific agents and teams, based on their appearance in both the "transaction sides" and "sales volume" rankings.

Agents in the top 20 list (below) had a ranking under 95th in both transaction sides and sales volume. All of the teams on the top 20 list (below) had a ranking of less than 50 in both categories. The top 20 lists are ranked by sales volume.

Among the agents, ERA Real Estate accounted for four of the 10 spots and agents at fellow Realogy Corp. brands Century 21 and Coldwell Banker took up another two spots. Agents at Keller Williams Realty accounted for two spots on the list.

Agents at two independent brokerages — Leo Nordine at Nordine Realtors and Jared Jones at Horizon Realty Group — occupy the top spots on the list. Nordine Realtors specializes in bank-owned real estate sales in Los Angeles, while Horizon is based in
foreclosure hot spot Las Vegas. The latter is one of two Las Vegas-based sales professionals in the top 10.

Four of the top 10 agents work in or near state capitals: Keller Williams’ Mic Gordon in the Columbus, Ohio, suburb of New Albany; Century 21’s Mary Berry in Oklahoma City; Keller Williams’ Tom Daves in the Sacramento, Calif., suburb of Roseville, Calif.;
and Coldwell Banker’s Hans Brings in the Boston suburb of Waltham, Mass.

Among the top 10 teams, the area around the nation’s capital figured prominently. Three of the teams were located in Virginia — all within the Washington, D.C., metro area — while another was based in Maryland, between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.

Mid-Atlantic brokerage Long & Foster Real Estate accounted for the top two teams: The Creig Northrop Team in Clarksville, Md., and Debbie Dogrul Associates in Fairfax, Va.

Teams at Keller Williams Realty also took two spots on the list, one of them in the Houston suburb of Katy, Texas, and the other in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Reston, Va.
