LinkedIn introduced changes to its user profile today that allow people to add different forms of visual content to their profiles in order to help showcase a “unique professional story,” the company announced in a blog post.

The revamp, which LinkedIn began to roll out today,  allows users to complement their online resumes with images, videos and presentations. The changes could potentially be helpful to real estate agents by enabling them to post listing photos and video tours on their profiles.

Some real estate professionals say that LinkedIn is more useful for generating leads than other social media sites like Facebook. An analysis conducted last year by HubSpot found that LinkedIn accounted for nearly half of all real estate-related activity on social media, easily beating the combined activity of Twitter and Facebook.

“From the analyst who makes annual predictions on tech trends to the 3D animator who is looking to fund a new short film, the opportunities are limitless for how professionals can now use the LinkedIn profile to help showcase these unique stories in a visual way,” LinkedIn said in its blog post.

To take advantage of the new features, a user should select edit on his or her profile and follow instructions that help a person enhance their “Summary,” “Experience” and “Education” sections with visual content.

Do you think LinkedIn is a more useful lead-generation tool than Facebook or Twitter?
