What every startup should know about working with an established real estate brand

Last year Sweeten, the New York City home remodeling matchmaking startup, signed a one-year exclusive deal with New York City-based brokerage The Corcoran Group to provide the firm’s clients with insights into the cost and value of home remodeling projects.

Sweeten founder and CEO Jean Lauer says that when working with an established brand like Corcoran, “It’s really important to understand how many people are in their organization, how many people are making decisions, and to be really sensitive to that.”

Once decisions are made, the brokerage likes the fact that Sweeten can move quickly to implement them. But until there’s buy-in for an idea, “We have to be really sensitive to the fact that this needs to be vetted through their whole organization and be something that everyone in their organization is really excited and comfortable with.”
