The 21,000-member Colorado Association of Realtors has promoted veteran employee Tyrone Adams to CEO.

Adams replaces Don Flynn, who had headed up the association for 2 1/2 years before resigning to become a vice president of industry relations for realtor.com operator Move Inc. in February.

Adams was previously the Colorado association’s vice president of member services. He joined the trade group in 1993 and was instrumental in developing and implementing member programs, education initiatives, communications strategies and oversight of the association’s annual meeting and convention, CAR said in a blog post.

“We’re very excited to tap into the decades of knowledge, accomplishments and passion that Tyrone brings to our association as CEO,” CAR Chairman David Barber said in a statement.

“His direct experience with our association, from the leadership team to our members and affiliates throughout our state, will be a tremendous benefit to CAR as we continue to create and deliver the best member services and benefits statewide.”

In his LinkedIn profile, Adams describes himself as a “self-motivated, hard worker, people person.” His personal motto is: “There are always opportunities in challenges!”

One somewhat unusual issue CAR has helped its members tackle in the past year is marijuana legalization.
