We are approaching the 200-year anniversary of the publication of the book “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley, who began work on the famous novel when she was only 18 years old.

That novel marked the beginning of our dread and fear of robots. To imagine humankind inventing a robot that could be both human-like but also a monster drives our fear, even to this day.

Brad Inman

Brad Inman

At Inman Connect on August 2 through 5 in San Francisco, publisher Brad Inman will speak on “The Bot vs. the Brain.”

He will dismiss fears about robots and argue that they are to be embraced not feared. Bots are being integrated into every form of human life and they create business opportunities.

He also argues that the nuance of human beings, our singular authenticity, our relationships with one another and our emotions can not be replicated by a machine. So fear not!

“We have not figured out human life — how could we expect robots to figure it out?” queried Inman. “They are here to help, not hurt us.

“Also, consider the human brain has been around for 1.5 billion years, and it is still the field of medicine that is least understood.”

In the last 20 years, Inman Connect has been the first to show off innovations that have changed the real estate industry, from home listings online, virtual images, video, blogs, social platforms, e-signatures and many other industry innovations along the way.

“Count on Brad to show us the way,” said Better Homes & Gardens CEO Sherry Chris.

Bots, artificial intelligence, algorithms and data will be a core part of the Connect program by other speakers as well.
