• Without a strong personal brand, you’re just two clicks away from obscurity.
  • Your network, expertise and the content you create play more of a role than ever before.
  • Today, everyone is a media company, and everyone has a personal brand, whether they like it or not.

When it comes to personal branding, I’m sure you’ve heard enough about quality headshots, business cards and logo design to last a lifetime.

Personal branding might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about growing your business, but it’s at the core of almost every entrepreneurial success.

Tesla has Elon Musk; Amazon has Jeff Bezos; Inman has Brad Inman; and Barbara Corcoran is still the most recognizable part of The Corcoran Group — even though she hasn’t been there in years.

We still prefer to buy from people we know, like and trust.

Personal branding is a discipline that applies to every industry and is something that all professionals need to master to achieve career success.

Real estate is no different: Where first impressions and word-of-mouth can make or break a deal, personal branding is even more important.

Although there is still some value to your resume and pedigree, your network, expertise and the content you create play more of a role than ever before.

In today’s age of information overload, customers are looking for a much higher degree of trust and personalization when they do business. To achieve that trust, you need to establish your personal brand and reputation long before the first hello.

“Your personal presentation and personal branding are extremely important, no matter what price point you’re at.” – Madison Hildebrand @MadisonMalibu

I started writing “The Road to Recognition with my co-author Barry Feldman almost to two years ago.

It wasn’t that personal branding was a new concept; Tom Peters established the “personal branding” roadmap in “Fast Company” in the late 1990’s — applying philosophies that were more prevalent within larger corporations than to the entrepreneur.

Things have changed drastically since then. Today, everyone is a media company and everyone has a personal brand, whether they like it or not.

There are 3.5 billion searches on Google per day2.78 million video views on YouTube per minute, 347,000 tweets are sent out every minute and Tinder is currently processing an average of 750 million swipes and 10 million matches per day.

Without a recognizable personal brand, it’s almost impossible to stand out among the clutter.

To help you define, establish and maintain a personal brand that will raise your value and develop a steady pipeline of leads, use this simple roadmap. It will bring greater recognition to everything you do to succeed in your professional life.
