Gospel church leases industrial space

Catellus Development Corp. recently leased the former MTI Technology Corp. headquarters to The Foursquare Gospel Church in Anaheim, Calif.

The 10-year lease, with an option to purchase, was valued at $11 million.

The Foursquare Gospel Church will move from its current location in East Anaheim into the 130,595-square-foot industrial building located at 4905 East La Palma Ave.

The organization plans to make tenant improvements to the facility that will include remodeling the warehouse space into a sanctuary and using the existing offices for church management.  more...

Post dumps Texas apartments

Post Properties sold Post Windhaven, a 474-unit garden apartment community in Plano, Texas.

The buyer and sale price were not disclosed.

Post Windhaven was built in 1991 and acquired by Post in 1997 as a part of the company's acquisition of Columbus Realty Trust.

Post Properties is one of the largest developers and operators of upscale multifamily communities in the United States.

Georgia mall bagged by New York buyer

Marcus & Millichap arranged the sale of Belvedere Plaza, a 372,762-square-foot shopping plaza in Decatur, Ga.

The value of the transaction was $21.3 million.

Belvedere Plaza is situated on 26.4 acres. Thirty-five retail tenants occupied the main level and three additional tenants utilize the rear space at the time of sale. The 276,706-square foot retail level was 100 percent occupied by a variety of retail shops and eateries. Credit tenants include Washington Mutual, Blockbuster Video, Athlete's Foot, Radio Shack, Pizza Hut, Dollar Tree and Cato's.  more...

Real estate construction picks up

Privately owned housing units authorized by building permits in May were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of approximately 2.1 million units, according to estimates reported today by the U.S. Commerce Department's Census Bureau, up 3.5 percent above the revised April rate of 2 million units and 12.5 percent above the May 2003 estimate of 1.85 million units.

Single-family authorizations in May were at a rate of 1.6 million, a 3 percent increase from the April figure of 1.5 million.  more...

Real estate loan applications climb

Overall loan applications increased last by 5.6 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association's weekly survey.

The MBA seasonally adjusted purchase index increased by 4 percent to 449.5 from 432.2 the previous week. The seasonally adjusted refinance index increased by 8.5 percent to 1,479.4 from 1,363.2 one week earlier.  more...

First American expands real estate default services

Mortgage rates sink

Long-term mortgage interest rates were lower Tuesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield fell to 4.68 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average fell to 5.99 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate slipped to 5.38 percent. The 1-year adjustable was up at 3.53 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield dropped to 5.37 percent.
