The one-story property is situated on 149 acres. Lofton Corp., a subsidiary of AWH Corp., specializes in sheet-metal fabrication. Home prices in Canada's major markets via the Multiple Listing Service rose considerably in June, while existing-home sales rose at a smaller pace, according to The Canadian Real Estate Association. The major-market MLS residential average price rose 10 percent year-over-year to $248,584, its sixth consecutive double-digit increase. The MLS residential average price set a new monthly record in a number of major markets, including Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Ottawa, Hamilton-Burlington, Montreal and Quebec City. more...

Single-family housing starts and building permits dropped from May to June, the U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reported today. And housing starts, building permits and housing completions for all privately owned housing units also declined from May to June. HomeBanc Corp. has completed its initial public offering of 34.5 million shares of its common stock at a price to the public of $7.50 per share, the Atlanta-based company announced Monday. The company said it was the largest mortgage real estate investment trust IPO ever. The company in March received a letter from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development asking for answers to questions about the company's marketing alliances with real estate brokers and home builders, and whether those alliances comply with the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act. more...

Cendant Corp. today announced that it is in discussions with a potential buyer of its mortgage business, but it did not reveal the prospective company's name. Cendant also is talking with the potential buyer about creating an ongoing relationship to provide for its continued participation in the mortgage business through its residential real estate, relocation and settlement services businesses. more...
