Dear Rookie:

I would suggest some tools such as those provided by Relocation Essentials or Bert Sperling to draw people to your site. Most studies indicate that consumers are looking for listings and neighborhood information when they visit a site, not your resume.

WaMu earnings drop 49%

Georgia apartment portfolio sold

Marcus & Millichap negotiated the sale of the 1,026-unit Land South apartment portfolio in the Atlanta metropolitan area.

The value of the transaction was approximately $84.2 million.

A Macon, Ga.-based private investor sold the three-property portfolio to Houston-based Creekstone Cos.  more...

Lexington buys North Carolina warehouse

Sonnenblick-Goldman Co., on behalf of Lexin Capital, has arranged the sale of the 245,000-square-foot Steelcase Inc. facility in High Point, N.C.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Lexington Corporate Properties Trust purchased the building, a warehouse/manufacturing facility that was a build to suit for Steelcase Inc. in 2002 for its Brayton International subsidiary. The building is leased to Steelcase under a long-term net lease agreement.  more...

Equity One unloads retail center

Equity One sold its Forrest Gallery Shopping Center in Tullahoma, Tenn.

The value of the transaction was $10.5 million.

Forrest Gallery is a 214,450-square-foot shopping center, which is anchored by a Kroger supermarket, Peebles and a former Wal-Mart discount store sublet to Tractor Supply, Goodwill and Hastings Music.

The property was constructed in 1987 and is located at the intersection of Jackson Street and Cedar Lane.

The property was 94.6 percent leased at the time of sale.  more...

Instant messaging streamlines real estate

The first time Illinois Realtor Tammy Powell heard from a particular client was via an instant message that popped onto her computer screen. Intrigued by one of Powell's listings, the woman sent Powell an instant message after finding her screen name on her Web site.

Savvy seniors are wired

Despite the perceptions that older Americans are not Internet-savvy, a new study of young seniors, aged 62-75, paints a much different picture.

According to the 2004 Senior Sentiment Survey, 50 percent of young seniors are online (not including e-mail) between 8 and 20 hours per week. In addition, 26 percent use the Internet 22 hours or more each week with 10 percent of seniors surfing the net as much as 29 hours each week or more.  more...

Senior homeowners boast high real estate values

While California remains among the most expensive states for homeowners ages 55 to 74, Pitkin County, Colo., tops the list of U.S. counties with the highest average active adult home values, according to an analysis of 2000 U.S. Census data by the National Association of Home Builders.

The builders group defines an active adult as a homeowner between the ages of 55 and 74.

Pitkin County, best known for Aspen and its world-class ski resorts, ranked No. 1 in the nation, with an average home value of $946,036 for the 1,275 homes occupied by active adults.  more...

Wells Fargo net income jumps 12%

Wells Fargo reported 2004 second-quarter net income of $1.71 billion, up 12 percent from $1.53 billion in the second quarter of 2003. Diluted earnings per share were $1, up 11 percent from last year's $0.90.

Revenue was up 7 percent from the prior year to $7.4 billion.  more...

Chase Home Finance earnings drop 43%

JPMorgan Chase & Co. today reported a net loss of $548 million, or $0.27 per share, for the second quarter of 2004. That's compared to a net income of $1.83 billion, or $0.89 per share, for the second quarter of 2003.

Bank One Corp. announced 2004 second-quarter net income of $1.1 billion, or $0.99 per share, compared to $856 million, or $0.75 per share, for the second quarter of 2003.  more...
