Real estate rental service grows tsunami relief fund

Rent-Direct.com, an online marketplace for no-broker-fee apartment listings in the New York City metropolitan area, has set up a Tsunami Relief Fund to aid disaster-stricken countries in Southeast Asia.

The tsunami, caused by a tremendously powerful earthquake below the Indian Ocean, has killed at least 150,000 people, injured hundreds of thousands, and left many people homeless.  more...

Overnight real estate rates stand ground

Long-term mortgage interest rates were flat Thursday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield slipped to 4.27 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average held at 5.36 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate remained at 4.81 percent. The 1-year adjustable was down at 3.47 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield held at 4.85 percent.

Creekside Plaza disposition completed

Faris Lee Investments arranged the sale of Creekside Plaza, a 76,319-square-foot shopping center in Calabasas, Calif.

The value of the transaction was $21.7 million.

The property is located at 26521, 26527 and 26531 Agoura Road.

The property was sold by W Calabasas LLC, a local developer, to Mar LLC, a family trust, in a 1031 exchange.

Built in 2001, Creekside Plaza boasted a 100 percent occupancy rate at the time of sale with noteworthy tenants including Albertsons, Starbucks and Quizno's.  more...

Mack-Cali increases East Coast holdings

Mack-Cali Realty Corp. recently acquired three office buildings totaling 279,811 square feet in Parsippany, N.J.

The buildings were purchased from The Gale Company for approximately $30.8 million.

Located at 4, 5 and 6 Century Drive, adjacent to Mack-Cali Business Campus, the buildings were 46.2 percent at the time of sale to 13 tenants. Tenants include U.S. Fire Insurance, Diagnostica Stago, and Simon & Schuster Inc.

Mack-Cali Realty Corp. is a self-administered real estate investment trust.

Greentree Place sells to joint venture

Hendricks & Partners negotiated the sale of Greentree Place, a 256-unit apartment community in Chandler, Ariz.

The value of the transaction was $13.7 million.

The property, located at 250 South Elizabeth Circle, was built in 1987. All units contain washer/dryer hook-ups.

San Mateo, Calif.-based Greentree Place Investors LLC sold the property to AIH Management LLC, Golden Phoenix LLC and Lexi Management of Irvine, Calif.

Virginia real estate market reports strong November

Virginia homes sales and prices posted double-digit increases in November from their year-ago levels, according to the Virginia Association of Realtors.

Realtors reported 10,974 transactions closed in November, up 26 percent compared to November 2003's 8,709.  more...
