CBRE Investors buys stake in Charlotte mall

CB Richard Ellis Investors recently announced the acquisition of a joint venture interest in 13 buildings totaling 236,497 square feet in the Rivergate Shopping Center, a 543,282-square-foot shopping center in Charlotte, N.C.

CBRE, in partnership with Childress Klein Properties, paid an undisclosed price in the deal.

Built in 2007 by Childress Klein, Rivergate Shopping Center sits within the Steele Creek area of southwest Charlotte, an area that has seen significant population growth over the past five years, according to a press statement.  more...

Apartment sale closes in Portland suburb

A limited liability company recently sold a 93-unit apartment building in Milwaukie, Ore., for a price of $7.6 million.

Pointe West Apartment LLC traded the asset to a representative of a personal living trust in Northern California.

The property, Pointe West, is located at 11556 SE Fuller Road, with direct access to Interstate 205 and Highways 99E and 224.

The asset's occupancy rate was not disclosed.

ODW's SoCal warehouse lease renewed

ODW Logistics Inc. has signed a long-term lease for a 300,000-square-foot warehouse it currently occupies in Chino, Calif.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

The tenant, which provides logistics and transportation services for Pioneer Electronics, Edwards Lifesciences and Broan NuTone, re-leased the space at 13725 Pipeline Ave. because the location allows ODW to effectively service its clients throughout Southern California, according to a press statement.

Majestic Realty owns the building.

ActiveRain vs. Move trial date set for December

A jury trial is scheduled in December for the lawsuit filed by online real estate networking company ActiveRain Corp. against Realtor.com operator Move Inc. over a failed acquisition.

FDIC: Bank reserves not keeping pace with delinquencies

Federally insured banks and savings institutions saw fourth-quarter earnings plummet 83 percent -- their lowest levels since 1991 -- and failed to boost loss reserves as fast as borrowers became delinquent on loans, the FDIC reported today.

Fourth-quarter net income fell to $5.8 billion at 8,500 banks and savings and loans insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., down from $35.2 billion a year ago. For the year, net income fell 27 percent, to $105.5 billion, as banks more than doubled loan loss provisions to $68.2 billion.  more...

New York pushing Fannie, Freddie to make new rules for lenders

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are reportedly nearing agreement on a deal with New York's attorney general that would require lenders to hire independent appraisers and provide copies of appraisal documents to a clearinghouse where their conduct and activity would be monitored.

New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's office is investigating whether investment banks and other companies that sold securities backed by mortgage loans failed to disclose to investors and rating agencies that many loans did not meet minimum underwriting standards.  more...

OFHEO: Q4 prices fall in every state but Maine

U.S. home prices fell 1.3 percent in the fourth quarter, according to a government price index that excludes more expensive homes.

The fourth-quarter price declines erased previous gains for the year and left home prices down 2.4 percent from their April 2007 peak, according to a house-price index published by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO).  more...

U.S. home-price index plunges at record rate in Q4

U.S. home prices plunged 8.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2007 compared to the prior year's quarter -- it was a record in the 20 years of data collected, according to a Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller price index report released today.  more...
