Alabama senior housing traded for $27M

Carlton Cove, an entrance-fee continuing care retirement community in Huntsville, Ala., has sold to another operator of senior housing communities for nearly $27.3 million.

ACTS Retirement-Life Communities purchased the 43-acre campus from Carlton Cove Inc. Included in the sale are 49 single-family and duplex homes, 113 independent living apartments, and a 91-unit/105-bed health center, which includes skilled nursing, Alzheimer's care and personal daily assistance.

REIT bags Nutfield complex

Grubb & Ellis Healthcare REIT Inc. this week announced the acquisition of Nutfield Professional Center, a medical office building consisting of 22 office condominiums in the Manchester-suburb of Derry, N.H.

The REIT paid an unidentified party an undisclosed amount for the asset.

Located at 44 Birch St., Nutfield Professional Center consists of approximately 70,000 square feet of gross leaseable area. Built in 1963, it was renovated in 1990 and again in 1996.  more...

Transwestern brokers sale of 20111 Century Blvd.

A limited liability company recently paid $5 million for a single-story office building in Germantown, Md., brokerage Transwestern announced on Thursday.

20111 Century Boulevard LLC acquired the property from Century South Investors LLC at a price that represented $237 per square foot.

The single-story building, recently built in 2003, totals 21,108 square feet. At the time of sale it was fully leased, including 77 percent occupancy by credit tenants Davita Inc. and the Stephen Gould Corp.  more...

Overstock.com Inc., which sells excess inventory of consumer goods like clothing and furniture, has entered the real estate space with a dedicated listings channel that claims nearly 3 million properties, including distressed, foreclosure and auction homes.

The Overstock.com real estate channel claims 2.9 million properties, including 2.6 million residential listings. Of those, 1.96 million are single-family homes, 246,000 are condos and townhouses, and another 73,720 are multi-unit properties.  more...
