Obama signs stimulus bill

President Barack Obama is in Colorado today, where he's scheduled to sign into law at 2:40 p.m. Eastern time the controversial $787 billion stimulus bill passed by Congress last week.

The bill, which backers say will save or create 3 million to 4 million jobs through $575 billion in government appropriations and direct spending plus $212 billion in tax cuts, includes several provisions aimed at boosting home sales.  more...

To trust a home seller

DEAR BARRY: The home I am buying has been vacant for two years, and the sellers have not been truthful about its condition. Their disclosure statement says the furnace is in perfect working order, and they listed no other defects. Last week, I called the gas company to turn on the service and to light the furnace. They red-tagged the furnace as "inoperable" and said they had previously informed the owners of this problem. They also told the owners that the copper gas piping needs to be replaced.  more...

"Hey, you remember that townhouse we pitched?" my co-worker yelled across the room. "Our big competitor's got the listing."

Well, of course I remember that townhouse that we pitched, since it was the most expensive property that I'd ever pitched and my first team pitch as well. Plus, those of us who haven't remembered to follow Bernice Ross's advice to clean our desk to make room for new business easily found the file that had been sitting there since last May.  more...
