Homeowner dues fall short of fire coverage

DEAR BOB: I live in a condo complex where I recently received a $265 bill to pay for the fire insurance on the building. I have my own condo owner's insurance for my furnishings. But it seems to me the condo homeowner's association should pay for the building fire insurance premium out of our monthly association dues. Am I right or wrong? – Arlene C.

How to be a successful real estate agent

There should be a law requiring every novice or "old pro" real estate agent to read "The Millionaire Real Estate Agent" by Gary Keller or lose their license to sell real estate. However, such a law does not exist so agents who truly want to be super-successful won't have competition from the lazy agents who won't bother to read this great new book.

When I began selling real estate a zillion years ago, I wish there had been a step-by-step guidebook like this one telling me what I needed to do to earn $1 million a year in net sales commissions. Yes.  more...

New-home buyer denounces sub-par construction

Last year we purchased a newly built home. We hired a home inspector before closing, and no defects were reported. But now we've learned that some things were not built to code. How could the house be sold if it didn't meet code, and why weren't these things found by the home inspector or the city building inspector?
