Internet real estate searches climb Premium Content

The Internet is an increasingly popular tool for home searches, according to the latest annual survey of home buyers and sellers conducted by the National Association of Realtors trade group.

About 77 percent of home buyers reported that they used the Internet to search for a home – a 3 percent increase since 2004, according to the 2005 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers.  more...

Developer spends nearly $14M on California warehouse

Voit Commercial Brokerage has handled an industrial warehouse property sale in La Mirada, Calif.

The value of the transaction was $13.8 million.

Ropak Industries sold the property, whose size was not disclosed, to AMB Property Corp., a global developer and operator of industrial real estate.

The property is located at 14585-14589 Industry Circle.

TIC investors buy North Carolina housing complex

Triple Net Properties represented tenant-in-common investors in the acquisition of Landing Apartments, a 200-unit complex in Durham, N.C.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Landing Apartments comprises 192,200 square feet and features 12 two- and three-story buildings, a clubhouse, fitness center, laundry facility, three playgrounds, two tennis courts and a pool.

The property, built in 1986, provides 1- and 2-bedroom apartments ranging from 750 square feet to 1,100 square feet.  more...

The value of the transaction was approximately $11.4 million.

California real estate loan risk levels increase

Lending institutions in California have increased their scrutiny of home loan applications because of higher default risk, the result of a shift in sales patterns and of a real estate market nearing the end of its boom cycle, a consumer Web site reported.

Risk levels for new mortgages statewide increased 28.6 percent from the first half of 2005 to the second half of the year.  more...

First American acquires real estate management software co.

San Diego tops nation in online job ads

Some 1.63 million new online job ads were offered in December, a decline of 187,000, or 10.3 percent, from November, according to The Conference Board Help-Wanted OnLine Data Series. The December level was well below the August 2005 peak of 2.13 million new online job ads.

Ken Goldstein, labor economist at The Conference Board, noted that "a large portion of the declines in ads in November and December are seasonal declines as businesses cut back recruitment ads during the holiday season. The December data are in-line with what we are seeing in other data.  more...

Google dives into radio advertising
