High-flying real estate broker appeals helicopter ban
A hearing will be held in York County, Va., tonight to consider whether real estate broker Greg Garrett can land helicopters at his waterfront home, the Daily Press newspaper has reported.
Garrett contends that he only lands a helicopter at his home a few times a year and the helicopter flies in over the water and is at least 800 feet to 900 feet away from the nearest residence.
An editorial in the newspaper argues that the county Board of Zoning Appeals should not permit Garrett's request "because helicopters don't belong in residential neighborhoods."
