$350k for a sand grab
By Bradley Inman, Tuesday, February 20, 2007.The Hamptons have an allure that is un-matched -- Malibu, Monte Carlo, Palm Springs, none of these hot spots can hold a candle to the hoopla, expense and the be-there-to-be-seen scene in this mega-rich NYC summer escape place.
My pal Dottie Herman told me that places can fetch upwards of $250,000 for a summer rental. People vacate their homes for the summer, just to get in on the summer gold rush.
Today’s, New York Post, which covers the H-scene like brown on brown rice has a story for those who find the mix of celeb and real estate somewhat irresistible.
The delight for me is a little like People Magazine and a Double Cheese Combo at Burger King.
I avoid them as much as possible, but every so often, I yield to my non-PC California side. I see an abandoned People Magazine on the airplane, grab it, suck it down and then feel like _hit afterwards.
A BK double cheese and too many stories on big shots in the Hamptons can give me the same hangover.
Oh, did I mention it is a beautiful place.
