A Different Kind of Heart

A Different Kind of Heart
Over the last two weeks, I've been working on putting our line-up of speakers together for our Really Awesome Women in Real Estate Conference. I've been impressed with the large percentage of these women leaders who are making major contributions to their respective communities. Judy Moses, President of Women's Council, contributes her time to helping young women. As Judy puts it, "You never know when a young woman is watching you and what effect you might have on her life." Joeann Fossland used her blog to raise $24,000 for CARE, an organization that helps impoverished women and children worldwide. Donna Lee Laue of UniqueGlobalEstates.com makes her home available for numerous charitable groups in the bay area. Thousands of agents contribute their time and money to other worthy causes such as Habitat for Humanity. While opinion polls slam the industry for being "greedy and selfish," I'm hard pressed to think of any other group who so consistently gives back to their communities. There's an old saying, "To those who much is given, much is expected." Perhaps our critics ought to take a hard look to see exactly what percentage of the charitable work in their communities is coming from Realtors with a heart. Happy Valentine's Day!
