The NON-green real estate transaction
By Bradley Inman, Saturday, February 17, 2007.My rants about the need for a paperless real estate transaction are going nowhere. My house purchase is going smoothly thanks to Realtor Dian Hymer but it is a legal and paper nightmare, ridiculous requirments, left over from the S&L crisis. (instead of putting bad guys in jail they encumbered every day homeowners with ridiculous requirements.)
So far, 39 signatures and 61 initials, 6.4 inches high and 3.1 lbs of paper, according to my on and off scale (which always overstates my weight, for some reason).
And I have not even closed.
This situation is bound to get worse, the ezzzzzzzzzzzy money era (2000-20006) when anyone who could count to 10 could get a mortgage is already bringing on the regulators (which it should), but after indicting a few low-level mortgage broker thugs, laws will be passed to protect the homeowner by punishing them with more requirements and more paperwork.
I predict 10 lbs when I am all done. I have already sent out an alert to the Berkeley recycle crew, or do I need to store this stuff?
