Communitainment
By Bradley Inman, Wednesday, March 7, 2007.Investment Bank Piper Jaffray has just released a new report, The User Revolution: the new advertising eco-system and the rise of the Internet as a mass medium.

The report coins several new terms including "Communitainment" which describes the convergence of community, communication and entertainment. PJ's Safa Rashtchy has been an astute Web observer; wrong some times but on top of most trends as they explode into the mainstream. While much of the 325-page tome is old news, the report puts context around the breaking out of social media everywhere and its influence on consumers, advertisers, big media and Web players. It also discusses how Google is building brand loyalty around multiple products even though they cannot monetize them quite yet. Tracing the user generation movement to Tivo, the report points to various companies and threads worth watching including craigslist, Wikipedia, YouTube, IAC, Disney, Yahoo! to name a few.
