The long tail of short sales
By Jessica Swesey, Friday, March 23, 2007."Short sale" tops the list of "Recent Searches" at InmanWiki by a landslide. According to the tally, the term has been searched 1,323 times, while other top search contenders are clocking only 93 searches, 12 searches, and smaller. Looks like an indicator of what's on the industry's mind right now as some areas unfortunately brace for the winds of the subprime tsunami. Inman News published a guest perspective from Scott Thompson earlier this week that looks at short sales. Thompson has specialized in this type of real estate deal for many years. (See Inman News story, "A short-sale tale.")
Many new agents may not even know what a short sale is since they've only worked in a burning hot market. They may need a crash course on how to handle these types of sales and what terms they need to understand in the process. Where should they go? See all the articles on short sales at InmanWiki here.
