What the real estate industry can learn from Justin.tv
By Jessica Swesey, Wednesday, April 11, 2007.
So there's a young guy in San Francisco who walks around with a video camera strapped to his head recording everything and it's live on Justin.tv. You may be thinking, "OK, so what?" I just tuned in and saw Justin putting dishes away in his kitchen. Riveting.
The San Francisco Chronicle recently did a frontpage spread on Justin and crew.
"OK, so what?"
I've been giving this some thought -- why is this news? Why are we paying attention? Then I realized that the answer to that question doesn't matter so much. People today are interested in themselves and connecting to other people like them. Think MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Where the hell is Matt?. Breakthroughs in blogging, video and other communicaton tools have enabled us to broadcast ourselves like never before. In the context of real estate -- this makes your next generation real estate consumer even more self-centered than the last. So who is at the center of the real estate transaction then?
