Does this bother you?
By Jessica Swesey, Thursday, January 10, 2008.NEW YORK - Our next U.S. leader isn’t talking about the housing downturn. John Vogel, a professor of real estate at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, told the crowd at Real Estate Connect NY that after researching the seven top presidential candidates, he found only one who even mentioned the current housing downturn.
With 2 million homeowners in danger of losing their homes during the election year, it seems like presidential candidates would be discussing this more.
Maybe we’re too early in the election cycle.
Pat Stone, chairman of the Stone Group, on the other hand, thinks that the election year could be just the jolt of energy the correction needs right now. When it gets down to the nitty gritty in this race no candidate is going to want to ignore the fact that Americans are losing their homes and neighborhoods are suffering as a result.
Which candidate strikes you as the friendliest toward real estate markets and why?
