Real_you_coverKaira Sturdivant Rouda, president of national real estate franchisor Real Living, released a book today, "Real You Incorporated: 8 Essentials for Women Entrepreneurs."

Guys -- stop rolling those eyeballs -- this isn't one of those "break the glass ceiling" or "how to lead like a man while still being a woman" kind of books. It's relevant to real estate agents as it focuses a lot on finding your own authentic brand.

Rouda also shows readers how to use a personal brand as a competitive advantage.

Phoenix real estate blogger Jay Thompson points out that the book applies to men as well as women. He mentions in the comments of this post that he's not afraid to be seen thumbing through his copy.

Copies are available through the book Web site, www.realyouincorporated.com.

An InmanTV video interview with Rouda can be seen here.

I haven't read Kaira's book, but I did see her video interview on InmanTV: http://www.inmantv.com/?p=137 The three core messages of the video are vital to any professional regardless of an agent's sex:

1) Be Authentic in your business. Being passionate and committed are important, but ultimatley you've got to be real with your clients/service partners.

2) Develop your own Brand. I thought this was very honest coming from someone in the franchise sales realm. Brands are only as good as the experience they provide their clients.

3) Foster the Relationships of your business. Stay in touch with your clients regardless of the purchase cycle. The thought of "giving back" seems almost philanthropic, but I think the best way to keep trust is to stay honest always.

Seems like it would be a worthy read.

I too saw the video interview, and was struck by two things:

1) Perhaps it would be nice to spell Ms. Rouda's name correctly in the video caption.

2) What's with the lighting in the video? It looks like Ms. Rouda and the interviewer are sitting in a dark room. O.k., they got the back light working; now let's go for the key and fill lights.
