Flipping through real-life headlines

It's true that tidbits and anecdotes rarely tell the whole story. Neither do headlines.

It's still fascinating to peruse the tidbits on the housing market by putting ear to the ground and listen to what agents and brokers in the field are saying. Here's what I've learned in the last few days via Twitter.

--"Lost another offer today to a seller negotiating from what they 'want' to make." -- Jim Duncan, RealCentralVA.com

--"Projection of 2.2 (million) foreclosures nationally in next year. Philly is fighting back, freezing sheriff sales. Looking for cities to join fight." -- Frances Flynn Thorsen, tweeting a hearing in Philadelphia with Senators Dodd and Casey.

--"While I was gone, wife got 'come list my house' call. Too bad blogging is a 'waste of time.'" Jay Thomspon, The Phoenix Real Estate Guy

--"Talked to a lender - 'i'm getting somebody in a house for $72 - & b/c it's full doc - they can actually afford it!'" -- Jim Duncan, RealCentralVA.com

--Also caught this video, "Walking away from a mortgage," a QIK stream from Blown Mortgage's Morgan Brown while walking home from the bus. Brown bills himself as a "mortgage industry refugee."

I guess my point here is that there really are some interesting tidbits about the market being tossed out there online. Follow a few of these folks and you'll get a glimpse of some of what's happening in various markets around the country.
