Glenn,
You are right, there is not much comedy happening to the Dow the past few weeks.

I have been watching the dow plummet over the last week. Its insane how quickly it has fallen. On October 1 it was 10,831 and as of today we are at 8451 for a drop of around 22% in less than two weeks. Ouch.

When we put the DOW with real eastate we get WOW. Everyone one compares the DOW to real estate. WOW!.I thought real eatate was a hard asset and the DOW was paper.
When we as practioners of the real estate business forget this we get what we have. People looking short term at a hard asset. That is not the real world and long term will never be.
You can always print more stock certificates. Some years back they stopped making land, but not people.
This real esate market will adjust and those who stay it will become very wealthy, because they took a long term look, and found that; God Stopped Making Land, but not people.
We as real estate practioners have to pass this on to people. If we don't, when the next crunch comes we will have price controls on real estate, rents, and many things in our industry because they stopped making land. They will use the phrase that we are running out of land to house people.
Look back it was already said and will be dusted off and said again.
Convince the young to buy now, at this great price, and interest rate intersection.

Exactly. I wish I had used a lot of what is now my DOW loss to buy land. Even if not that liquid right now at least you don't wake up in the morning, go out to your land and find half of it gone! OK, maybe in California but not usually. Land is forever like a diamond.

The stock market is in a strong uptrend now. It will take a while for the market to make up the substantial losses of the past couple of years. Fortunately, for us down here in Texas the Plano Real Estate market remains strong.
