Inman Photo Contest winners

Congratulations to Linda Davis, the winner of the Inman News Photo Contest. Her entry, "Foreclosed in Stonington, Conn." (republished here with permission from Linda Davis) features the entryway of a foreclosed home, which still displays a heart-shaped "Home is where the Heart is" plaque.

Glen:

Really think Inman Editors missed the impact they were trying to achieve with the photo contest.

This plain door tells no story visually and lacks any emotion whatever. There were several other photos which actually told a story visually and at least came close to accurately representing "the pulse" of the current real estate market. Don't be surprised with the lack of eyeballs.

Congrats, however, to Linda Davis: "That was Easy!"

John, thanks for you comments. A panel of three judges ranked the top-10 list, and the finalists that the judges picked from were selected by Inman readers. Not everyone will agree on which photo is their personal favorite, of course!

John - Linda's photo spoke to me. It had emotion in it. It also tells a story, one that I see every day. Someones home . . where they used to live . . is vacant yet there are signs of the people who lived in it every where and it tells a sad story.

I think this was a good choice for first place. It tells a story, this is a decrepit house, but someone lived here once, was happy once before and now they've moved on. Well Done Linda.

I almost didn't see the heart on the door. That is so sweet yet very sad. It tugs on your heart strings. Good job Linda.

Because of the ongoing economic crisis, many foreclosed properties can be found in any city of any country. Escaping from the site leaving the property abandoned is not the solution. To know more about latest foreclosure practices and trends, one may visit http://foreclosureworkouts.info/ also.

Sad but a very apt photo. Perhaps Linda can watch for a sale and post a photo of the buyers moving in.

Well, we'll have to get busy and sell all these empty homes. We did it before, let's do it again!
