4 years after Katrina
By Glenn Roberts Jr., Friday, August 28, 2009.
The lives of its residents and the landscape of the New Orleans real estate market forever changed when Hurricane Katrina pounded the Gulf Coast four years ago this month. Read an Inman News report: "New Orleans: 4 years after Katrina."
Inman News wants to hear from real estate professionals who live and work in the Gulf Coast region and continue to work with Katrina refugees and returning residents.
Those who left to live in other areas and those who have rebuilt, moved within the region, or are just now returning still face many tough decisions on housing, particularly given the state of the U.S. economy. Send us a note at future@inman.com if you'd like to share your story.

I'm still fascinated by the "Katrina House" that was designed to keep material costs low and still look charming. However, I sympathize for anyone that lost their home in this crisis.

I couldn't find the "Edit" feature. I believe is it referred to as a "Katrina Cottage" rather than a "Katrina House"

There are still about 40,000 vacant or empty houses. FEMA still has between 3000-4000 claims still up in the air. Tied up in paperwork. Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Firehouses are still wainting. The Corp of Enginers have not finished the Levee ststem. Dept of HUD that runs opublic housing in in shambles. What gets done are things people do themsleves.

Many people of New Orleans have a doubt if they still want to return in New Orleans, After that destruction of Katrina and if they want to established a home in there.
