Did you ever wonder why? That great line will go down in history as one of the best ways to begin the understand the truth - all thanks to 60 Minutes' Andy Rooney. This could not be a better way to make a statement about real estate ads. Where do they get this stuff?
- Fixer-upper = tear down and start all over, the value is limited to the dirt
- Gourmet kitchen = has a stove and a fridge
- Original condition = nothing updated since it was built
- Quiet neighborhood = no one lives there now, everyone has moved
- Beautifully landscaped = has a tree and a bush
- Great rental potential = you would never live in it yourself
- Carpeting throughout = the owners ruined the hardwood floors underneath
- Don't disturb the tenants = you'll need a Sheriff to move them out
- Mother-in-law unit = she's still in there and we're not sure if she's coming out
- Limited view of the ocean = it's out there somewhere; go to the roof and see
- Recently upgraded = the carpets have been cleaned and some holes patched
- Sprinklers throughout = has more than one hose bib in the yard
- Eat-in kitchen = after the payments you won't be able to afford to eat out
- Shows beautifully = most of the lights work, best shown at night
Wouldn't it be great to just say it like it is? Thanks to the Internet, you can. Say goodbye to newspaper and magazine line rates and the need to abbreviate everything and say hello to unlimited complete, rich community and property content - it's about time. Did you ever wonder why it took so long?
