If you don't blog now...
Posted in Real Estate Bloggers By Chris Adams, Tuesday, May 6, 2008....well, I think if you don't blog now, you may miss the boat when something leapfrogs blogging.
Either that or your laptop might fall off your lap.
Seriously.

Steve -
I started my AR blog in Dec. Amazed at the consumer results. Cannot believe how many agents do NOT have a blog - when do you think they will wake up and get into the competition for readers?

Steve,
I have to agree with you 100%. We have noticed an amazing amount of traffic flow to us and yet it's only going to get better. With today's technology you need to be ontop of it and yet individuals purchase more and more through the internet.

Michael,
Blogging for Realtors is the difference between jammin' traffic and a lonely trip down an empty road.

I'm torn on this point...
1. Yes, to truly embrace the whole 2.0 mentality and get out into the Blogosphere I believe it's important.
2. From an SEO and "area Expert" avenue it's imperative and highly cost effective.
3. Too many people out there are blogging without a "voice". They read like the thousands of bios I have read and have no differentiation whatsoever.
4. for $300 a month, you can have your entire social network, SEO, blog and comments managed by a third party. Blog-spam is poised to ruin the autheticity of what blogging is really about.
That's 50/50 which if I was a MLB ball player would be great. If done properly I think there's no question as to how important it is. Done improperly, it's like buying a templated website and throwing your picture on a bad IDX search.

Matthew,
1.)You can enter social media at many levels-one of them will succeed for you and your market. It may be twitter, or facebook-and not blogging.
2.)SEO is important-Content is king and the consumer is the highest form of life on the planet.
3.)People need to try different modes of blogging-and being active in social media-to find the right voice where people hear them.
4.)Dung rolls downhill, cream rises!
The shakedown is here and it is still shakin' - those that choose not to participate in some form of social media do so at their own risk.
Thanks for your thoughts,

Elizabeth - why have multiple blogs? (says the man who contributes to half a dozen).
All you really need in one. Or at least one that is your main focus.
I see a lot of people out there with several blogs (one guy said he had 20!). I'm not real sure what the point in that is, particularly if you are the only (or primary) contributor. Contributing to a group blog or two is one thing, but contributing to multiple blogs where you are the only author seems like it would be hard to keep up with -- and dilute your efforts as well...

I agree. It is hard enough for me to keep up with the one I have. I try and post daily, but it is hard to do with everything else that goes on in a day. One is enough.
I do have a question for anyone that may know. I recently tried an add on for my Wordpress blog that allows me to add RSS feed news headlines to my blog as posts. It automatically adds to my blog at set intervals.
This has become a great means of additional content and the feeds are based on keywords that relate to my blog. Does anyone know if this has any negative effects such as Google penalties for using such content.
I would like to know anyones experience or thoughts with this matter. Thanks

Focus, focus, focus. So true!
It is good to be out there in the bloggosphere, leaving comments where you have something relevant to say.

Ryan,
I say keep it simple, let YOUR content be king and develop your readership.
Don't worry about rank or Google.
If you blog it, they will come....
