Well, these are the best of times…and there is today! I recently joined a group of our agents in a “Building Social Capital” workshop that we hosted at our training center. Our agents were drawing pictures that depicted the inter-connections between their spheres of influence and learning how to grow the inter-connections between people they know who don’t know each other. If it’s a “small world afterall”, agents of the future need to learn how to make these connections and more.
Do Linked-In, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace enhance, eliminate or harm the interaction we have with our human networks? I’m honestly not sure! To talk to some agents, they spend 1-2 hours a day with these activities. I think the future of real estate will be centered on how effectively agents can leverage the Internet as a tool to communicate with their clients from initial contact through closing. There will be no middle of the road on this. Agents (or companies for that matter) that can’t-or won’t-adapt to these new processes will be forced out of business. For those who adapt.. the future looks brighter than ever!
