Referrals Fees vs Advertising | Which is a better spend?
Posted in Real Estate Bloggers By Riel Roussopoulos, Sunday, May 3, 2009.Just curious what agents think is a better spend (or what would you rather... pay for advertising? or pay referral fees for business closed?)
If you could take a second to answer the survey here, it's just 5 questions and there is a little thank you bonus at the end for taking the time.

This is the basic choice we all have to make.
We built our business and continue to grow in a challenging market due to one fact:
You will spend as much time, effort, and money to reach one qualified retail client - As you will to reach one qualified affiliate professional who alredy has 1,000 clients.
Think about who talks to your best clients first - Before you ever get the chance to talk with them.
Establish a solid network of "those" professionals and you will never have to search for a client again....
Work hard and ride safe, Danny

There can be no better lead than that from a satisfied client, vendor or another agent. A 25% referral fee to an agent is a small price to pay.

I agree with Rich Johnson 100%. 25% of my business comes from out-of-town Realtors. I would rather have 75% of something than zero of nothing. Plus, the referrals that I get from other agents come with their endorsement of me--it's a warm to hot lead where advertising is extremely cold. Your face is in a sea of hundreds of other Realtors in the ocean. I LOVE REFERRALS AND AM HAPPY TO PAY 25% for anyone's referrals to the Silicon Valley!

I am very involved in my local and state association and tend to get referrals from other cities and other brokerages, not just through Prudential. I love it when an agent outside our area has heard of me or met me and thought enough of me to entrust their clients to me. This client comes with expectations that must be met but also, the trust factor is already established - something that may never develop with a cold call or a customer that is developed through advertising. Believe me, when your client trusts your integrity and expertise, it is easier to guide them through the transaction and help them make the best decisions toward fulfilling their real estate dreams.
If you have someone moving to or from the West Houston suburb of Katy, Sugar Land or Richmond, I would love to help them. Please visit my site to learn more about our area and my worth ethic. And yes, I happily pay a referral for the business.
