What would you want to know most about your site visitors?

Slow a little here for the past couple days (I hope everyone is out closing deals). I figured I'd throw out another topic:

If you could know one thing about visitors to your site/blog/online-presence what would it be? For those of you who know lots about your visitors already, what if you could know just one thing, what would it be?

For example, on the site I manage directly, if I could know just a single thing about my visitors I would want to know how soon someone is planning on making a purchase. I could do a fair bit of marketing with that information.

What about you?

I would want to know if their expectations are in the ball park. Be they buyers or sellers, this is critical.

Most of us deal with buyers on the internet. Here we have two conditions when a buyer is expecting too much. First they are just ignorant of the market place. Or, second, they are shooting the moon... initially in hoping to get a great deal. In this case there is a chance of educating and eventually closing a deal.

For our site, I think it'd be helpful to know which marketing techniques they've already tried and have them give a simple thumbs up or thumbs down. I think this would help in developing effective future marketing options for them.

My site, http://www.WaterwayRealty.com is a bit on the primitive side- comapred to some sites that I've visited. I would like to know the name and contact information for my visitors and the reason they stopped by. I'm sure much of the visitors to most real estate related sites are from other agents in the market area!

Mott, your site is interesting. Getting the name and contact information from visitors is only possible if you create a way to capture that data. Unfortunately, if it's listings related a lot of people won't buy in, or if they do the data will be fake.

There are other site monitors (code plug-ins)that will tell you other site statistics, such as locale of the visitor as well as link referral information.

Contact me if you would like more information on what may or may not work on your site.

Thank You, Thomas

Interesting is a kind word!

I did plug-in a "whosamong.us" map to get an idea where people are coming from, it is interesting, but gives me little to no real data. I guess its all a matter of numbers.

Hi Mott - have you looked at Google Analytics? It's free and provides you with valuable information about visits, where they came from, search phrases, etc. It won't give you visitor contact information but it is very valuable for tracking where visitors come from, how they get there and what pages they are visiting.

GA is among my most favorite tools.

But I'd really like to keep this one on topic. Not talking about solutions on finding the information just yet.

So...

If you could know only one thing about your site visitors, what would help your business the most?
