Just when you thought you had a real mobile office...

Sick of driving around in your vehicle (the office away from the office) looking for a WiFi Hotspot?

Now you can really set up a "mobile office". Chrysler has announced they will add wireless routeres to some of their 2009 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge models. What a great service for REALTORS and road warriors alike!

Now I know what you're thinking... How much is it?
Not as bad as you'd think!
The router - $449
Installation - up to $50
Mobile Web access - about $29 per month ($35 activation fee)
Service will be provided by Autonet Mobile.

Show of hands...

Who will be purchasing a new Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge in 2009?

No Chrysler or Jeep for me. I am happy to use my Blackberry as my modem for internet connection on my laptop for $15/month unlimited. I just plug it in and I am not tied to a Wifi spot or a vehicle... it's more mobile. I also don't have navigation built into my car since I have it on my Blackberry for $10/mnth and don't need to buy discs to update it. I have used some of these service while riding around with my friends in their vehicles - and I love the mobility. Yes, I am a Blackberry addict, but these services are also available on most updated digital phones. For me, it's about convenience and immediacy.

How about $199 for a 3G iPhone? 3G provides simultaneous voice and data. You can tether it to your laptop via Bluetooth. It's not as fast as wifi but at least you can get high speed internet access when you're not in your jeep ;-)

Victoria.. so you could say it's your "crackberry"? My friends that have those absolutely love them. I'm glad you've found a great tool to make you mobile! :)

Then I guess we could consider the 3G as your mobile office, away from your mobile office...

Thanks for your comments!

Has anyone considered finding home swaps for your customers? It is free and most agents are not utilizing it..yet.

This too will go the way of the cel phone in the visor that Chrysler had 10+ years ago....I have a Sprint air card in a Toshiba PC that works EVERYWHERE - not just in the car.

40 years of property management experience...age and experience trumps youth and enthusiasm every time!!!
