Real Estate Company Website - Web 2.0?

I would love to get some feedback on my new company website. We launched in on December 19, 2007 and we are getting quite a bit of traffic.

I am trying to learn/embrace web 2.0 by updating pages and the blog more than daily. None of the content on the site requires "registration" by users and we have received some good response from users.

Please check it out and provide comments on the site (at the site). Please include that you saw it here.

Thanks.

Wasn't sure where on your site you wanted the comments so I'm just going to post here.

Looks good! And if you're getting traction with it then even better! It's good to see you have a conversion tool on every on page.

Glad to see you have an analytics package installed. Be sure to examine your GA configuration to block traffic from your office and your code provider, if possible. That can give you an even clearer picture of site usage by potential customers.

As far as frequency of posting on the blog: more than once per day might be too much, depending on your audience. Also, read all the thoughts in the blogging group to avoid burnout.

To determine what a good posting-rate might be, look in your Google Analytics reports under Visitors/Visitor Loyalty/Recency. That report will tell you how often visitors come to your site. "0 Days ago" is for first time visitors. Use this information to inform your decisions about length of time between posts, attenuate somewhat if you have RSS subscribers.

Good work and give us another update in a few months!

I am a new agent and want to set up a website; yours is very informative and helpful to me.

What I like to see is your face so I would stop imagine whether there was a superman writing the blog or an actural person doing it.

Thanks AJ, I've added my picture to the "About" page.

Are you doing this website? I noticed that you don't have any keywords on your code or permissions for the robots to crawl your site also the static menus look nice but you be better off using regular HTML links so it will be easier for the spider to crawl and index your site links.

Great questions Sidney. Some were a bit over my head, so I got help...

1. We hired Dakno Marketing (Brad Carroll) as our Real Estate Web Design Company. They created the original "shell" and we supplied the content. All new content is done by me and my staff. The key is that the content is purely original so it will continue to move up the SEO rankings.

2. Here are some of Brad's thoughts on your questions:

Keywords (I am assuming he is referring to meta keywords)

Most people think that adding keywords to your Meta Keywords tag will translate to higher ranking in search engines. However, this is not the case…

This is direct from the Google Webmaster Blog
Question: I notice that you do not mention the keywords meta tag - does this mean that Google totally ignores it?
Answer: Thanks for asking, Glen! You're right in that we generally ignore the contents of the "keywords" meta tag.

SEO gurus have also done a few test and always find that keywords have no impact in SEO.

But do note that we have the ability to add keywords in AgentBackdoor.

So why did we even include this in AgentBackdoor? The keywords field is helpful for adding keywords that do not appear in the copy of your website. For example, If you have a Mortgage page on your website, you may want to put the keyword “morgage” (note the misspelling). In other words, the keyword tag can be helpful for including common misspelling, or alternative words that still relate to the topic of that page.

Can you still put true “keywords” in the keyword field?
Yes. Just be sure not to “stuff” this area with lots of keywords. You can end up doing more harm than good. Stick with just a few and make sure they are on topic with that specific page.

Hope this helps…

3. I appreciate your input Sidney. If you have thoughts or disagree with the above I'd love to see the feedback. I am relatively new to all of this and I'm learning as I go along.

Brad Carroll from Dakno (my firm does real estate site design and development also and I've always been impressed with Dakno's stuff--don't tell my boss I said that) is correct re: Keywords and the fact that Google doesn't pay attention to them anymore. Yahoo, however does, and thus the reason to include them at all (even though Yahoo tends to be much less significant in terms of numbers of visitors). And the tip to include misspellings in the keywords field is another gem.

I have a feeling that these Inman forums will put a lot of cowboy SEOs out of business. :)

Another way to use the keyword metatag is to just make a note about what the page should be focused on. That way if someone else comes along and edits the page, they can be reminded of what the purpose of the page is. Or if you want to analyze performance of the page you can refer to the purpose for which the page was written.

I noticed that having keywords in the keyword tag contributes to the keyword density for that term. In some cases, it seem a better idea to pick up some density in this manner versus trying to come up with another relevant line of keyword rich text on the page.

Anybody else having any luck with keyword density and page rank?
