The sound--dripping water? Birds? has to go. Not having sound would be much better. Also, that's a long list of towns in which you are an expert. Any way of making them active links?

The sounds you've implemented are very jarring and disturbing--please get rid of the sound.
Your biggest graphic should be for a 'Home Search' which has been proven to be the #1 reason why people visit a real estate website. You could replace your 'Buyer' graphic with home search.
I'm not so sure that your long list of areas on the bottom of your homepage will do you any good for the search engines. They've been pretty good at catching on to long lists that provide no value to a visitor.
Last, you need more original content. Incorporating a blog into your website would be a great idea.
I hope that helps!

David,
For the past ten years I have provided Internet marketing servcies for Realtors all across the country. My Realtor clients have been very successful.
I grew up in Huntington and am very familar with Long Island.
Your site will not produce significant results. It will not earn high positions on the searches because it covers too large a territory and is not properly optimized.
At the same time the site does not compel a reaction from a buyer or a seller.
As a Realtor on Long Island your website pages should wave a flag to waterfront home buyers and to commuters to NYC. There are many highend areas like Oyster Bay that you could attract inquiries for with well executed page content.
Our Realtors are generating up to 75 leads each month by offering home buyers what they want in a real estate website.
Hope thisa helps

I completely agree with the others regarding the sound.. it is very annoying.
If you must have the sound, provide a way to turn it off for your visitors.
In addition that long list of areas IMO is a waste of real estate. Target market a few local areas, and create individual pages for each of these areas.
One thing I have learned from the company that manages my website is: the most important thing to remember when creating a website is to create it for your visitors. Good content is what your visitors want so give it to them. They want to search for real estate so make it easy for them.
You have links to items such as Salary report with a page "What are you worth". Are you selling real estate or are you in human resources? If you're offering a career change then have a "join us" page.
My suggestion is to take a step back and examine your site from your visitors perspective. If you are unable to do this, because you are too close then have a friend who is not in real estate do it for you.
As real estate agents we have to remember that our business is to sell real estate. We are not website designers nor do we have the time to devote to becoming website experts.
Given that, you may want to look into hiring someone to help you. There are many companies out there that are reasonably priced that can help you get started. Some will also train you to do things your self.
My webmaster has brought my site from obscurity to the #1 site in my area for many search terms. Contact him and see if he can help you: www.cochran-consulting.net.

Hi David,
Also, you might want to modify your title tag to be a readable snippet for the user. Just a comma delimited set of keywords isn't all that helpful. Same goes for your description meta tags. That is what will show up on the SEs and again you've just got a long list of keywords.
I looked at those on the home page.
Lastly, that list of cities should go or be reformatted into counties? Way to hard to read the way it is and is anyone going to try and find their city in that long list if they are from out of town?
Good luck!
Joe
