I've been in the mortgage and real estate industry since 2003 and got hooked on online real estate marketing in 2005. In the subsequent three short years since I discovered the power of the internet for marketing, I've founded my own brokerage and have guided my websites to a #1-3 Google ranking for almost all relevant local real estate keyword searches. I've achieved this his despite being in a competitive market of 1,200 active agents and having a fraction of the budget of the that many well established and well funded brokerages in my area have at their disposal.

Recently, I've now added developer of the Real Estate Keyword Tool to my resume. It may not be the most visually appealing real estate application and it may not have alot of bells and whistles, but I think that my keyword tool is one of the most powerful and practical utilities to help Realtors get exposure online.

The assertion that long tail URLs (which have never had content or links) pointed to your main domain will help your search engine ranking is not correct. However, acquiring keyword-rich domains before your competitors do and pointing them to your main site is a good strategy. Those additional domains can also be used in offline advertising. You can redirect your FirstNameLastName.com domain to your TownRealEstate.com domain, but you should always develop content on your TownRealEstate.com. You might get some additional type-in traffic by forwarding your other domains to your main site, but it will probably be minimal. Brett Young Real Estate Keyword Tool

While I agree with the importance of hyperlocalism, I'm not quite sure I agree about your advice on a domain. 10560CondosWestwood90024.com is not a memorable name and will be difficult to recall if a user doesn't bookmark it. It's better to stick to a domain that includes an area and one or two real estate keywords eg. WestwoodCondos.com The real SEO advantage of any given domain itself is when the domain is an exact match of a highly search real estate keyword. Adding numbers into your domain diminishes the advantage of an exact match. Brett Young Real Estate Keyword Tool

  • Joseph, I'm in agreement

Joseph, I'm in agreement with you--Apture seems to be a more elegant approach and I'm definitely considering the idea of using it. For those occasions where one links out to unsupported sites, it is preferable to open a separate browser window. Brett Young Real Estate Keyword Tool
