In my humble opinion this is the way of the future. For those agents who are made nervous by the prospect my advice is "Get over it." This system is fairer to both clients and agents It and others like it will continue to grow and prosper. • I agree with your article
    By Christopher AsheAugust 27, 2008 - 12:35pm

I agree with your article completely except for one thing and that is the 6% commission. Your article makes it very clear that people need the service of a real estate agent and they always will. I completely concur. A real estate transaction is indeed a complicated business and the help of a knowledgeable professional is called for. However the 6% commission or success fee dates back to the time that agents were hired to SELL a house. As you have made amply clear in your article the agent is no longer a salesperson (even though state law usually licenses them that way), they are now consultants and deserve to be paid for their services regardless of the success or failure of the transaction. Charging and receiving a "success fee" no longer makes sense and is unfair to both the agent and the client. It is my belief that the MLS as we know it has a very short life expectancy. If fact I wouldn't be surprised if it no longer exists 10 years from now.
