Rates are low and prices are down. The problem is that only the Government is loaning money. Banks are not originating loans unless they can sell them to Fannie or Freddie. The credit markets as we knew them are dead. The US Government IS the credit market. That's not a good thing. We are slightly more optimistic than this report. We agree that things (at-least some things) are as bad as they’ve been in 50 years and that growth will be tepid, but we just think the recovery will start sooner than the UCLA paper suggests.
