I don't agree that the real estate blog is dead. "Generic", "uninteresting" and "cookie cutter" are dead, but that's true in any medium. My blog, http://blog.catskill4sale.com, is a key part of my online presence, with 500+ posts over 5 years, and over 4,000 reader comments. It's a vibrant online destination with a loyal following. Why is it successful? It's all primary content, often highly opinionated, and sprinkled with data not compiled anywhere else. I consciously write posts with hooks that will spark a reaction, and hopefully comments. Posts about whether the market has hit bottom or not - in our area - have been especially popular over the past year. There is definitely a role for a blog, but only compelling blogs. May the other R.I.P.

  • Brilliant marketing on Agent

Brilliant marketing on Agent Harvest's part. This will pick up a nice viral head of steam. It's unfortunate, though, that the parody works so well because it contains so many grains of truth.

I don't think the agent hosting the open house, and even showing the house a second time to the buyer, has any claim whatsoever on procuring cause. It's my understanding that procuring cause is that it is an uninterrupted series of events that lead to a sale. And by the buyer going back to Agent A and having substantive discussions over the value of the house, that would be an interruption in the series of events. This idea that some listing agents have that simply showing a house is procuring cause is simply ridiculous.
