Why would a listing agent, not referred by the sister-in-law, pay a referral fee? The referral fee is for the actual referral. If the sister-in-law wants a referral fee, then she should refer them to a qualified, local agent. The referral fee is made between two brokers, not between sellers and their sister-in-law. Also, if these sellers are being transferred, then it is possible they will be using a Relo agent, who will already be paying a hefty fee to the Relo company.
