Let's clarify that with short sales, the bank does NOT own the home. The seller is the homeowner, who happens to owe more on the home than it is worth in today's market. The bank does need to approve the sale, but again, the bank does not own the home. Also, the list price may or may not have any relevance to the amount the bank is willing to approve. In many cases, the list price is set by the agent and/or the homeowners without any input from the seller's lender that must approve the transaction. This article neglects the fact that Connecticut still has FIVE multiple listing services. Mr. Paine does run what is named the "Statewide MLS" but it does not in fact cover the entire state. Many of us here in Connecticut still have to join - and pay for - multiple MLS systems. Don Fabrizio-Garcia Broker, Nationwide Realty Greater Danbury/Candlewood Lake area Connecticut
