  • Twitter's search capacities
    By Ian S. GreenleighSeptember 30, 2009 - 10:10am

Twitter's search capacities are too often overlooked. This took me approximately 5 seconds. 1. I went here: http://search.twitter.com/advanced 2. I typed in "moving" and "austin" in the first field. 3. I found all of this on the first page: "laurenashleyork: @GuidoReyes I know the fall weather just came this wk!(...) When r u moving to Austin?! I need to b there!" "BeckyMcCray: Austin & Houston: my friend @dscooksey is moving down from Tulsa. Make him feel welcome!" "DavidOmar: @Sooty13 hi. moving, probably out of state. Austin or Boston, whichever calls first." "Kristina18cam: so i am definitely moving to austin in a few months. anyone from austin?" "kentnichols: Besides the heat, what are the downsides of moving to Austin?" Five semi-qualified prospects on the first page. All of them speaking about moving to Austin, all of them doing so within the last 17 hours. Contacting them is trickier, but offering advice on neighborhoods, restaurants, price ranges, etc., are all good ideas that won't come across as spammy or pushy. Let's say none of them respond. Well, you've wasted maybe 5 or 10 minutes. Oh, and it's free. So, yeah, twitter sucks right? Ian S. • Bernice- Fantastic. I see

Bernice- Fantastic. I see this outmoded thinking too often. Agents tell me on an almost-daily basis, "I wouldn't call me if I were they." This is especially true of Gen Y-ers, as you state. Most people do not mind a call from an agent if they are approached in a professional, consultative manner and given information they might not otherwise be privy to. Ian S. • Oohhh, but look how shiny it
    By Ian S. GreenleighSeptember 16, 2009 - 1:20pm

Oohhh, but look how shiny it is! As everyone knows, shiny things are inherently more valuable. In real estate, we can see this demonstrated in shiny tans, shiny teeth, shiny hair, shiny watches, shiny egos, and, recently, shiny websites that deliver almost no usable information. Ian S.
