  • In response to Kathy

In response to Kathy Condon's comment: Miss Condon claims "we (the company) paid the entire amount ourselves". That's an untrue statement. The MLSPIN sent an email to their real estate agent members on August 29, 2011 announcing that subscription fees would be increased effective October 1, 2011 "due to the current economy and the costs associated with operating the business." When questioned on the fee increase Miss Condon wrote to me in a separate email "We also had an expense that was not budgeted, which all were made aware of in June that cost the company over $200,000." Seems to me WE THE MEMBERS are paying the entire amount ourselves, not the MLS. I welcome Miss Condon or any of the board members who voted for this increase to please comment below and continue this conversation.

  • Thanks Inman! I hadn't heard

Thanks Inman! I hadn't heard any sort of legitimate confirmation of this yet and I know a couple of our very anxious first time buyers are going to be breathing a huge sigh of relief. Things were really getting down to the wire with overwhelmed banks trying to close by the end of the month, this was a good move by the Senate.

I'm with you 100% Bernice. Interesting to read this right now because I have been giving this a lot of thought on my own recently. I'm fairly new to the industry but I often feel like a self-hating Realtor :-\ The more this topic and others like it are brought out into the open for discussion, the more I see there are lots of you out there who strive to be the best you can be every day. I wish all the bad-eggs were an anomaly but so far I haven't found that to be true at all.
