Janet Case is co-founder and CEO of Proxio, Inc., a global B2B real estate platform serving real estate professionals worldwide. Proxio’s services include ProxioPro.com, a global referral network that fosters agent-to-agent connections, and an international MLS that addresses the need for real estate agents all over the world to have better access to market information, greater global exposure, and a stronger value proposition for clients. Proxio's mission is "connecting the world of real estate" with its patent-pending services adapted to many cultures and delivered in many languages.

Janet’s interest in real estate began very early; she bought her first investment property at the age of 19 and has bought and sold many since. It was her first international purchase three years ago, an old farm in France, which inspired her to re-think the MLS for an international audience as a solution to serious market inefficiencies. ProxioPro was launched in April 2008 and already thousands of agencies in more than 60 countries have registered and begun using the service.

Before starting Proxio, Janet spent 6 years as CEO of two large Realtor Associations in Silicon Valley (simultaneously), with over 7500 agents in hundreds of brokerages. In this role she also ran an online real estate forms company and participated in the governance of the local MLS. Previously Janet was a senior marketing executive, successfully conceiving and launching new high-tech products into international markets for two Fortune 500 companies. Janet has an undergraduate degree in Economics and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

My Comments

  • It doesn't surprise me that

It doesn't surprise me that agent referrals make up a large part of your production, given your focus on networking. What does surprise me is that so few agents focus on building their businesses by cultivating their relationships with peers - online and off. I think this is a significant missed opportunity for most agents... building a network with other agents for professional referrals is a high ROI activity. Janet Case, CEO Proxio, Inc. Not surprising to see J. Lennox Scott pushing the envelope for the industry once again. His vision for integrating social networking for Gen X and Gen Y real estate agents and clients is right on the money... connecting and sharing with peers is what they're all about. Real estate brokerage just took a big step forward. Janet Case, CEO Proxio, Inc. Global referral network www.proxio.com

  • Kris, I think your comments

Kris, I think your comments are right on the mark, and needed to be said. Social networking is certainly all the rage, but it isn't going to create a real estate practice all by itself. Networking is an indispensable method for being visible and getting known, and serious real estate professionals should employ many types of networking - in person and online. For those with an eye on ROI, however, professional sites with a business focus are your best investment. One last caveat about social sites - your reputation isn't built by social networking (only hard work and good service can do that), but a reputation could be lost by careless postings, so stay professional at all times!
