Bob, Thanks for the article. I often find it surprising that agents using social media forget that time is a cost factor. After all, what we do for a living is very time consuming and we have to manage and budget our time wisely to be effective and successful. Your article emphasizes the need for due diligence in our daily business activities. Best wishes. I completely agree with the others regarding the sound.. it is very annoying. If you must have the sound, provide a way to turn it off for your visitors. In addition that long list of areas IMO is a waste of real estate. Target market a few local areas, and create individual pages for each of these areas. One thing I have learned from the company that manages my website is: the most important thing to remember when creating a website is to create it for your visitors. Good content is what your visitors want so give it to them. They want to search for real estate so make it easy for them. You have links to items such as Salary report with a page "What are you worth". Are you selling real estate or are you in human resources? If you're offering a career change then have a "join us" page. My suggestion is to take a step back and examine your site from your visitors perspective. If you are unable to do this, because you are too close then have a friend who is not in real estate do it for you. As real estate agents we have to remember that our business is to sell real estate. We are not website designers nor do we have the time to devote to becoming website experts. Given that, you may want to look into hiring someone to help you. There are many companies out there that are reasonably priced that can help you get started. Some will also train you to do things your self. My webmaster has brought my site from obscurity to the #1 site in my area for many search terms. Contact him and see if he can help you: www.cochran-consulting.net.
