Great post and an area I've chosen to focus on improving in 2009. A lot of what we've chalked up to blogging has turned out to be checking analytics, reading other blogs and generally putzing around instead of doing real work. So far in 09 I'm limiting time blogging to an hour per day and I've found a marked increase in productivity. The importance of using your Google Analytics data can't be stressed enough. One thing not mentioned here is the integration of Adwords data with your Analytics data in combination with built in goal tracking. Of course, you need to know the value of a lead - but let's say you have a 1% lead conversion rate and your average conversion pays $5k - those $5 Adwords clicks don't seem so expensive anymore and you can justify spending money to make money.
