Real estate broker and owner of a boutique firm in San Diego, California. Approximately $170 million in personal sales. Prior commercial real estate broker, so I can handle an office building sale or lease, retail campaign or industrial project.

The company's business philosophy is green. We run a very low paper usage office and have been doing so for many years, long before it became more commonplace to recycle and be green. Our green philosophy with respect to transactions is that we sell them first, green them second. All properties we handle whether on the buying or selling side get our "green touches" at our expense because we believe in leaving property better than we found it.

Philanthropically, the company donates 15% of its commission to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Meals on Wheels and two local animal charities. Personally we also support The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and direct our funds to efforts in New Orleans.

We'd love to do business with you. Knock on wood, our firm has never been to a mediation hearing, has never been sued and has never been called up on ethics charges before any REALTOR board. That's a pretty good record. Want to be our next happy client?

We have a few niche specialties: all agents in the firm are e-PRO certified, GREEN certified and Senior Real Estate Specialists.

Agents and brokers nationwide: we always pay a 30% referral fee to you directly from escrow upon closing the property.

TV appearances include NBC, HGTV's 'National Open House' as host and many other local media mentions.

It's been great to read the spirited comments on Twitter and blogs about this topic and I appreciate being quoted by Inman. Jay Thompson just said it best: What if NAR supports a candidate you don't agree with? For me this new policy will change NAR from a business trade organization I choose to join, to a union that I don't have to join (a union without a benefits package). If you're going to make me pay for your politics, I expect you to vote my way. And of course that probably won't be the case with NAR, who wouldn't miss a small independent brokerage if we left someday any way. As Rob Hahn said in his phenomenal post, this may also be the beginning of NAR's irrelevance. No one ever asks me either if I am a REALTOR. Even my most sophisticated clients don't even know what that is nor care. Be careful, oh mighty behemoth. You had many of us in the palm of your hand. Sam, thank you for the kind comments. They're truly appreciated. We still have short sales ~ I just avoid them for my own peace of mind! For Dan, my comment about using lawyers referred to my knowledge of the For Sale by Owner market in the Midwest. The determined seller, the one who wants to sell their own home, is a successful seller more often in the Midwest. I have heard of buyers and sellers reaching a meeting of the minds on terms on their own. And an attorney can be used by them to assist with finalizing paperwork. My comment was about FSBOs and how I have seen them work successfully in the Midwest. We do not use attorneys in our deals for any reason in my personal experience in San Diego. But anyone can hire an attorney for anything, at any time.
