My Comments

  • Yet another inspector who

Yet another inspector who thinks that he has to rely on real estate agents for business. Don't be concerned about agents referring you Mark, be concerned about your clients. If you change your marketing strategy and start advertising to the general public instead of real estate agents, you will find that it really works. Sure it takes a bit longer, but trust me it works and you will never have to worry about real estate agents ever again. This is one reason many agents use the half blind, one legged 70 year old inspector that they have been using since moses was a kid, because they know the movement that is going on right now with home inspectors and are in fear of the dreaded "deal killers". • As a home inspector here in

As a home inspector here in Indianapolis I can tell you without hesitation that referral kickbacks are very much alive here in the hoosier state. I am consistantly bombarded by real estate agents wanting me to "pay to play". I have always viewed this practice as being highly unethical and am proactive in trying to get legislation passed to prevent this practice from continuing. I would suggest to all readers of this column to get involved in any way you can, write your state representatives, congressmen etc. The only way this practice will end is by legislation. Get involved! Mike Chamberlain MC2 Home Inspections www.mc2inspections.com
